Love at First Sight: The New 'Must-Have' Sunglasses

The summer is nearly here and that means it's time to invest in a new pair of sunnies. But there are so many styles in the shops it's difficult to know which ones to choose. Here's a quick rundown of all the hottest 'must-have' styles this summer, and which ones will suit you best...

Classic

Left to right: Claudia Schiffer; Miley Cyrus; Jessica Simpson

As seen on: Claudia Schiffer, Miley Cyrus and Jessica Simpson.
Classic styles suit: Oval shaped faces (Claudia); square faces (Jessica), oval shaped rims soften hard angles.

Classic styles, continue to reign this summer, if you're going to invest, the Oliver People's Chelsea are 'totally-of-the-moment' (they're slightly over-sized), yet utterly timeless...these ones will go on and on...Try Topshop and Warehouse for designer dopplegangers.

Vintage inspired frames like Victoria Beckham's DVB 2 are ideal if you're unsure about straying too far from the classic style, but are looking for something a little more unique. On the high street, Warehouse have some gorgeous vintage inspired frames.

Modern styles suit: Light coloured or rimless frames suit high cheekbones (Jessica) and heart-shaped faces  (Lady GaGa).

Modern shades, like Tom Ford's Alexandra are a quick way to update your look, but be wary of splashing the cash, there's no guarantee they'll be anything other than a one-hit-wonder. The selection on the high street is vintage-led this summer, but at Topshop and Next you'll find a range of different styles, none quite like Tom Ford's, though...Now that's a designer collaboration I'd like to see.

Left to right: Sienna Miller; Kate Moss; Kirsten Dunst

As seen on: Who hasn't been caught out in these? Sienna Miller, Kate Moss, Kirsten Dunst, Lilly Allen are just a few fans of the Wayfarer style.
Retro styles suit: Angular lenses give round faces like Kirsten's structure and definition.

OK, so the trend for Retro Styles has been around for a while now, but it's showing no signs of giving up yet. If you still can't bring yourself to shell out £79 for the Ray Ban 2140 'Wayfarer' style then you're in luck as there are replicas all over the high street. If you're really feeling the pinch, head to Primark wear you can pick up a pair for just £1.50. But if you can spare £15, take a look at Urban Outfitter's 'Buddy Holly's', available in a great choice of patterns and colours.

Square styles, like the Chloe 2123 are the perfect compromise between classic and retro styles. Try Red Herring @  Debenhams for similar styles.

The aviator influenced design has been reinvented time and time again.
Ray Ban's classic 2140 is a firm celebrity favourite, but there are so many great copies on the high street you needn't splurge, head to H&M or Urban Outfitters, instead.

Brightly coloured frames are set to be a big hit this summer. The celeb's have been picking up theirs from upcoming label, Super by RetroSuperFuture. The colour conscious 'Wayfarer-style' frames are handmade in Italy and feature top quality Zeiss lenses. A pair of the much-coveted 'Super Frames' will set you back £85, a modest price compared to other designer brands.
