'Mad Men' Fashion: Are you a Betty, a Joan or a Peggy?

Without a doubt, Mad Men is my favourite show on TV right now. I love the sharp script, the Hopper inspired cinematography, but most of all I love the clothes.  Janie Bryant is the show's stylist and is responsible for creating each character's covetable look: from Joan Holloway's figure-hugging frocks to Don Draper's slim cut suits.
Rumour has it that Bryant is working on her own fashion line, but until then there's been a flurry of fifties inspired frocks on the high street, perfect for any aspiring Betty, Joan or Peggy...

The Suburban Housewife:
Betty Draper

Betty Draper is the wife of Advertising Executive Don Draper. She was a model in her single days and her wardrobe reflects her enthusiasm for fashion, but also her duty to her husband.

Signature Looks: Floral dresses, full skirts, cardigans, glamourous gowns.

Betty Would Love:

Pearl Necklace, £7, Topshop

Rose Dress, Peacocks, £14

Gauged Crew Cardi, £35, Oasis

The Queen Bee: Joan Holloway

Joan Holloway is the office manager of the Sterling Cooper Advertising Agency. She believes that the only way to succeed in the industry is to be more than just a secretary and she's not afraid to use her femininity to get what she wants.

Signature Looks: Figure-hugging shifts, pencil skirts, bold colours, statement brooches.

Joan Would Love:

Metal Twist Stud Earrings, £5, Wallis

Rouge Allure Lipstick, £19, Chanel

Smart Dress, £45.00, Joy Boutique

The Geek: Peggy Olson

Peggy Olson is a Junior Copywriter at the Sterling Cooper Advertising Agency. She's bright, talented and ambitious. Her style is influenced by her desire to be taken seriously at work and her dislike for the double standard between men and women.

Signature looks: Neckties, checked dresses, conservative separates.

Peggy Would Love:
Dakota Paisley Print Scarf, £15, Accessorize

Lilac Pontinelle Cardigan, £22, Dorothy Perkins

 Floral Shift Dress, £17, Primark
